How do I book a trial dance class in Woking?

We offer a three-week trial for £30, and your child can try as many different classes as they like in that time. Complete the trial form with your child’s age and the classes they are interested in. We can help you choose if you are unsure. You will then receive class information and access to our virtual portal so you can book the taster sessions that suit.

What happens during the trial?

You will be emailed to confirm dates, times, which studio to use (including a map) and the teacher’s name. The teacher introduces themselves at the start, and your child is paired with an existing pupil who becomes their buddy for the class, so nobody walks in alone.

Question 3

What should my child wear to a taster class?

Accepted Answer

No LESTA uniform is needed for the trial: leggings and a T-shirt are perfect. A leotard and tights are welcome if you already have them. For acro, please bring a gymnastics or yoga mat. If your child is coming to Melody Movement, please bring socks with grips and a favourite teddy. Once you enrol, each class has its own uniform and full details are given when you join.

What happens after the taster classes?

We will email to ask whether you would like to continue the trial or fully enrol. Once you enrol you receive an invoice for the term (less the £30 trial payment) and our school handbook. There is a £20 enrolment fee.

Is there parking at LESTA Studios in Knaphill?

Accepted Answer

Yes. There is plenty of parking immediately outside the studios at Unit 10A & 10B Medway House, Lansbury Estate, Guildford Road, Knaphill, Woking GU21 2EP. A map is provided with your trial confirmation.

Question 6

Which dance styles do you teach in Woking?

Accepted Answer

Ballet, tap, modern, jazz, musical theatre, acrobatic arts, contemporary, hip hop, conditioning, leaps and turns, flexibility and Progressing Ballet Technique. We also run Melody Movement for toddlers. All classes are held at LESTA Studios in Knaphill.

Do you offer dance exams?

Yes. We offer ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) examinations in ballet, modern and tap. Higher grades can contribute UCAS points.

Question 8

Can we join a class part-way through a term?

Accepted Answer

Usually yes. We pause new enrolments during showcase term, when dances are prepared for the Rhoda McGaw Theatre. Show 2026 has already taken place. The next showcase term is Spring 2028.

Question 9

Are parents able to watch classes?

Accepted Answer

We generally encourage children to come into class independently, and we work with families if a child needs a gentler start. We hold a watching week in person at the end of each term at LESTA Studios in Knaphill.

Question 10

My child has additional needs. Can they join?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We aim to be as inclusive as possible. Tell us about any additional needs when you enquire so we can help make class a positive experience, including physical considerations such as hypermobility.

When does my child move up a class?

Accepted Answer

After an exam, or when teachers feel they are ready for the next level. Some classes run by school year. A progress chart is available on request.

Question 12

How much do dance classes in Woking cost?

Fees are billed monthly via GoCardless. Class prices are £25.00pm for 30 minutes, £30.00pm for 45 minutes, £33.00pm for 60 minutes, £40.00pm for 75 minutes and £48.00pm for 90 minutes. A 6-class package is £115.00pm and unlimited classes are £175.00pm. There are 12 weeks per term and 36 weeks per year, billed equally over 12 months.

What if we miss a class?

Classes are paid monthly via GoCardless. There are no refunds for missed classes. Your place is held until one month’s notice is given.

How do we leave a class?

We need one month’s notice prior to the next payment date on the 28th of the month.

Is there a uniform?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each class has a uniform available from our suppliers. Full details are given when you enrol. There is also a second-hand uniform Facebook group.

Yes. Our showreel gives a flavour of classes at the Knaphill studios and performances at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre. You will find it on the homepage, or watch it on YouTube.

How many shows do you do a year?

We hold a variety showcase every two years at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre in Woking, where every child in the school can take part. Show 2026 ran from 16 to 18 April. Photographs are on the gallery page. Dances are made in weekly lessons during the Spring term.

What does the showcase cost?

Costume costs are advised in advance, plus a small show fee covering make-up, hair accessories and postage. The next showcase is Spring 2028.

Question 19

Are the teachers qualified, first-aid trained and DBS checked?

Accepted Answer

All teachers are qualified in their genre or furthering their education with the relevant societies. Every teacher holds a first-aid certificate and an enhanced DBS.
