Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a trial?

Our trials are three weeks of classes for £20.50. Over the years we have found that a three-week package for the trial allows your child to fully enjoy the experience and to get a very good feel as to whether they wish to continue with the school. They get the opportunity to meet other pupils and to feel comfortable with the teachers and school.

What happens during the trial?

You will be sent an email to confirm your trial classes, the date and times of the trial, what venue, and studio the class will take place in, including a map of how to get there. You will also be told what the teacher is called. The teacher will introduce themselves to you at the start of the trial and your child will be introduced to one of our existing pupils who will become their buddy for the class.

What should my child wear during the taster class?

We usually ask you to wear leggings and a T shirt, although you can wear a leotard and tights for dance classes if you already have them. For acro classes you will need a Gymnastics Mat or Yoga mat.

What happens after the taster class?

You will be sent an email to ask whether you would like to continue with your 2nd or 3rd trial or whether you would like to fully enrol in the class. Once you fully enrol, you will be sent an invoice for the term less the trial payment. You will also be sent our school handbook with everything you need to know about the school.

Is there parking at the venues?

Yes, there is lots of parking right outside the venues. A map will be provided.

What styles do we have on offer?

Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Acrobatic Arts, Contemporary, Conditioning, Leaps & turns, flexibility.

Do you offer exams?

We offer exams through the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) in Ballet, Modern and Tap.

Can I join classes part way through a term?

Yes, you can usually start mid-way through a term, although we stop enrolments during our showcase term (shows are held every other year during the Summer term, the next showcase term will be held in 2022).

Are parents able to watch classes?

We usually like to encourage the children to come into the class without a parent, however I understand that some children find this more difficult, and we work with you to make it a positive experience.

We hold a watching week at the end of each term either on our app (Woking) or in person (Mindenhurst & Bisley).

My child has additional needs. Can they join a class?

Yes, we try to be as inclusive as possible. Just make sure that you make us aware of any additional needs and if there is anything that we can do to help make the class a more positive experience.

How many shows do you do a year?

We hold a variety showcase every two years at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre where all children in the school can take part. The dances/pieces are made up in their weekly lessons during the Summer term. There is a cost for the costumes, which will be advised in advance and a small show fee to cover the cost of the make-up, hair accessories and costume postage that is incurred by the school.

The next showcase is due to take part in the July 2024.

What if I miss a class?

Payment is made monthly for classes, there are no refunds made for any missed classes. Your place is held in the class until one month's notice is provided.

What if my child does not want to attend anymore?

You just need to provide half a term notice in writing or fees in lieu to withdraw from a class.

When do they move up a class?

They either move up when they have taken an exam or when the teachers feel they are ready and able to cope with the next class up. Sometimes classes are run by school years. We have a progress chart, which can be sent out on request, which shows the progression through the school.

How much will a class cost?

The cost depends on the duration of the class; however, the cost covers the full term, which is usually 12 weeks, all the costs can be found on the bottom of the timetable.

How often do we pay?

Our classes are charged monthly via GoCardless. There are 12 weeks per term, 36 weeks per year divided equally over 12 months.

Is there a uniform for the classes?

All classes have a uniform, and they can be purchased from our uniform suppliers. If you decide to start classes, you will be given all the details. We also have a second hand uniform Facebook group.
